Helena Lindegren, who grew up in the village of Ålund in northern Västerbotten, talks about her acclaimed debut novel I stort sett mänsklig (Pretty Much Human).

Helena Lindegren is both an actress and an author. In addition to film, television, and theater, she appears on the radio programs På minuten i P1 and Stora Dialektshowen alongside Fredrik Lindström.

About the book:
Hanna Degermark has always felt that she is a lesser person. One might think that this would soften the blow when she slips out of life. It does not. How do you pull yourself together when you lack determination? When you are forced to move into your dead father's old house, where the hours are as long as mobile internet is expensive? Do you really have to be an independent woman? And how long can you miss a friend?

I stort sett mänsklig (Pretty Much Human) is a moving novel about growing up as a child and then doing it again as an adult. With sharp humor and ruthless observation, Helena Lindegren depicts a woman who should do better for herself and a Västerbotten landscape that offers comfort and vertigo.
